Eagles bowl

OSKALOOSA — Pella Christian’s bowling teams were on the road Saturday. The Eagle boys lost to host Oskaloosa, 2,520-2,241.

PC bowling coach Rod Blunck said the Eagles did not field a full girls’ team again as several girls were at the state speech contest Saturday.

“We had a fairly good day, but we ran into a buzz saw once again,” Blunck said of the boys’ competition. “Oskaloosa’s Brandon Crall posted a two-game total of 491, throwing a perfect 300 and a 191. That’s pretty hard to beat.”

Caleb VanZee was the high scorer for Pella Christian with a 306 followed by Nick Lanser at 297 and Jordan Pleima with a 292.

Pella Christian bowls in the Little Hawkeye Conference meet this Saturday at Pella’s Exit-A-Bowl. The Eagles are in the Class 1A regional Feb. 18 hosted by Newton.
