Blues Under the Blue Roof to feature ‘Boogaloo’ Cochran, ‘Southside’ Boggs

Blues Under the Blue Roof February 2014

Scott “Boogaloo” Cochran and Jason “Southside” Boggs, both native Iowans, will rock the library meeting room at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Scott was born and raised in Beaverdale and West Des Moines. Early in life, he got the music bug after seeing the Beatles on “The Ed Sullivan Show” in about 1963. In 2012, after seven years working with Matt Woods and The Thunderbolts, Scott was inducted into the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame.

Boggs is the bandleader, lead singer and lead guitarist of The El Dorados. Jason sings with a rich baritone reminiscent of Johnny Cash and plays a slashing, stinging, reverb drenched, fat-toned style of guitar that brings to mind the rockabilly and blues greats that have gone on to that great gig in the sky. Thanks to the Library Foundation, Arts Connection, Friends of the Library and, most importantly, the South Skunk Blues Society for making these performances possible. All performances will be in the library meeting room and are free and open to the public.
