Judith ‘Judy’ Reed

Judith “Judy” Lynn Reed, 65, of Milan, Mo., passed away Friday morning, Jan. 10, 2014, at her home.

Judy was born Aug. 22, 1948, in Milan, to Herbert “Clifton” and Mary Lou (Weaver) Tipton. On Aug. 23, 1974, she married Charles Reed, he survives her. Also surviving are two daughters, Gwana Mackey and husband Patrick of Des Moines, Iowa, and Gwen Peterie of Milan; four grandchildren, Ryan Mackey, Eric Mackey, Cody Peterie and Kyle Peterie; four sisters, Glenda Crook and husband Richard of Newton, Iowa, Sheryl Agan and husband Denny of Sioux City, Iowa, Barbara Mullins and husband Ron of Newton, Iowa, and Joni Meckley and husband Greg of Melbourne, Iowa; two aunts, Wanda Hollon of Milan and Betty Hanen of Milan; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jim Tipton and Terry Tipton.

Judy lived most of her life in Sullivan County but grew up in Newton, Iowa, and graduated from Newton High School in 1966. She worked at ConAgra for 23 years and also worked at the Sears Store in Milan for several years. She liked playing cards, working crossword puzzles, enjoyed sewing, hunting Indian artifacts and spending time with her little “Abby.”

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Shatto Cemetery, West of Milan. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral, starting at 1 p.m.
