ALLEMAN — Prairie City Monroe’s wrestlers headed to Alleman over the weekend to participate in North Polk’s Inviational. The Mustangs won the team portion of the tournament with 175 points over the Forest City Indians, who scored 165.

"Winning the title was a total team effort," PCM coach Cory Waddell said. "Twelve of the 13 wrestlers that made the trip scored points for us. I am extremely proud of the effort the team put towards this. They have been working hard in practice and our conditioning is starting to show as we approach mid-season."

Standouts for the Mustangs include three first-place winners — Tristan Clark (126 pounds), Luke Cummings (152 lbs), Jade Coleman (160 lbs). All three Mustangs won each of their three matches on Saturday. Clark, Cummings and Coleman each had three pinfall victories in their first-place showings.

Xavier Miller took second place in the 113-pound division. He won two major decisions and lost a close 9-7 minor decision in the championship match against Brady Kyner, giving Miller his first loss of the season.

The other second-place finisher for PCM was Matt Chizek at 132 lbs. Chizek scored a pin over BCLUW’s Mitch Miller in the semifinals, but was pinned by Hudson’s Jeremy Smith in the championship match.

"We have some work to do after the Christmas break as we will be tested at our own tournament, a tough tournament at ADM and the Heart of Iowa Conference tournament all in the month of January," Waddell said.
