ALLEMAN — Jacob Hennick earned the third-place medal in the 113-pound division at Saturday’s North Polk Comet Invitational wrestling tournament. Hennick was the highest placing wrestler from Collin-Maxwell/Baxter.
At the other end of the weight classes, CMB’s Dawson Dahlke finished fourth in the 285-pound weight class. The Raiders had two wrestlers placing fifth and two others taking sixth in their respective weight divisions on the day.
As a team, the Raiders scored 57 points for 11th place. Prairie City-Monroe won the team championship with 175 points.
Hennick won his first match of the day, pinning Samuel Swanson of Forest City in 1 minute, 8 seconds. He dropped a major decision, 15-3, to Carlisle’s Brady Kyner pushing Hennick to the consolation side.
Hennick took a 2-0 decison over Cade Burma of Boone. He finished the day with a 5-3 win over Austin Smith of North Polk.
Dahlke took the same route. He pinned Michael Digiacoimo of Hudson in 49 seconds to open the tournament. Then he was pinned in 44 seconds by Garrett Johnston of Panorama.
Dahlke came back to pin T.J. Krehbeil of North Polk. He got pinned by Kyle Springis of Boone in 56 seconds in the third-place match.
At 195 pounds, Charles Robertson placed fifth. He won his first and fourth match of the competition the same way — pinning Jarret Maggard of PCM. The first match went 2:24 seconds but Robertson turned Maggard in 50 seconds to earn fifth place. Robertson lost twice by falls.
Zach Huffaker, wrestling at 152 for the Raiders, lost his first match of day, 12-9, to Jeff Anderson of Forest City. He rebounded with a pin of Isaiah Ralston of BCLUW in 5:26 then got pinned by Tanner Vermaas of Woodard-Granger. Huffaker faced Anderson of Forest City again, this time winning 10-9.
Jordan Coughenour went 1-3 on the day for sixth in the 160-pound division. His win came by pin of Orrey Reed of Carlisle in the first match. Chris Brown was 0-3, placing sixth at 132.
