The Newton Public Library will be closed today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will reopen at 1 p.m. and continue our normal business hours for the day.

2011 World Book

Encyclopedia Silent Auction

The library is holding a silent auction for our discarded (slightly used) 2011 World Book Encyclopedia.

Stop in to see the display of the set at the circulation desk and place your private bid into the box at the information desk. Auction closes at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20. This set is a great gift for the holidays!

Adult Craft: Tree Bulb Craft

Join us at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, in the library meeting room to create an ornament for your tree or for a holiday decoration. Register for this craft by calling the information desk at (641) 792-4108. Participants must be registered.

Holiday Movie: ‘The Polar Express’

Holiday movie and snacks at the library at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in the library meeting room. This movie is open to all ages. Synopsis: A young boy lies awake in his room one snowy Christmas Eve, excited and alert. Breathing silently. Hardly moving. Waiting. He’s listening for a sound he’s afraid that he might never hear — the ringing bells of Santa’s sleigh. What unfolds is an adventure which follows a doubting young boy, who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole; during this ride, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery which shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe.

Download e-books for Those

Holiday Road Trips

The library is offering one-on-one tech times on Mondays, Tuesdays and by an as-needed appointment time.

If you want to learn more about your e-reader device or how to download e-books to read on those long car rides/flights, sign up for a half-hour appointment at the information desk by calling (641) 792-4108. We can help you to check out e-books, change your settings, or answer any questions you may have about your device. We have instructional sheets for those who want to download on their own as well. Remember the library may close for the holidays but Wilbor is never closed!
