Homebound reader service now available

The Newton Public Library will be closed on Monday for Veterans Day.

Homebound Reader Service

The Newton Public Library is now offering access to library materials to homebound readers.

Persons unable to visit the library in person because of illness, injury or disability may apply to the library for homebound service. The library will match the homebound individual with a volunteer who will deliver books for patrons within city limits of Newton, or a family member may be designated for those outside of Newton city limits. Homebound readers will be able to check out books, audiobooks and magazines. Homebound readers must have a library card or apply for a library card at time of sign-up.

If you would like to apply for homebound reader service, call the Information Desk at (641) 792-4108 to request an application be mailed to you. Questions or want to volunteer? Contact Nicole Lindstrom, public services librarian, at the number listed above.

Card Game Night

On Monday, Nov. 18, at 5:30 p.m., we will be having Card Game Night. We will supply the cards and snacks, but we need you to be our players. Stop by to socialize, challenge a friend or learn a new game.

Newton Yearbook Donations

The library is seeking donations of Newton yearbooks to digitize. Copies that digitize best have no water damage, few to no signatures and no missing or torn pages. While the library will accept any Newton yearbooks, years especially needed are 1964, 1970, 1971, 1977, 1978, 1979 and 1981.

If you have questions or would like to donate your yearbooks, stop by the Circulation Desk or call Nicole Lindstrom at (641) 792-4108.

Recipe Swap

Join us for a recipe swap at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, in the library meeting room.

Participants must register beforehand by calling the Information Desk at (641) 792-4108. Bring a dish to serve 15 people and a copy of the recipe to hand out to others. This is a great opportunity to try new recipes before the holidays!

Career & Resume Workshops

@ the Library

Iowa Workforce Development will be teaching a series of four workshops at library: Developing a Career Plan, Conducting a Job Search, Create a Great Resume, and Interviewing Skills.

To view the complete listing of workshops and descriptions stop by our website at www.newton.lib.ia.us/services/classes or the Information Desk. Register for one or all workshops by calling the Information Desk at (641) 792-4108. All workshops are free and open to the public.
