Everett C. Dee, 89, of Mingo, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at Baxter Health Care Center.
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Everett’s name to be designated at a later date may be left at the funeral home or the church the afternoon of the service.
Everett, the son of August and Sarah (Klein) Dee, was born on April 5, 1924, in Rhodes. He grew up in Baxter and graduated from Baxter High School in 1941. Everett was united in marriage with Maebelle Hall on Jan. 23, 1947, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter. They moved to Colfax in 1951 and in 1964 to Mingo.
Everett was a farmer in the Baxter, Colfax and Mingo areas for 35 years. He also worked at the Maytag Company in Newton for 23 years, retiring in 1986. Everett was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter since the age of 14 and the UAW Local 997. He enjoyed woodworking, steel working and welding, gardening, boating and water skiing. He also liked fishing, dancing, accordion and organ music, Lawrence Welk, art and antique toys.
Those left to honor Everett’s memory are his daughter, Rebecca (Jack) Kistenmacher of Chappells, S.C.; two sons, Kenneth Dee and Curtis Dee, both of Mingo; his six grandchildren, Ryan (Kristen) Kistenmacher, David Kistenmacher, Angela (Scott) Johnson, Stacey Dee, Heather (Jon) Littell, and Christopher Dee; seven great-grandchildren; his sister, Lorene Sabin of Baxter; brother, Darrell (Shirley) Dee of Baxter; and LaVon Hunter, a very special lady and companion for over 20 years, who cared for him in sickness and health and was a mother, grandma, and great-grandma to the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maebelle Dee; five brothers, Ivan, Vernon, Harold, Glenn, and Lloyd; brother-in-law, Wilbur Sabin; sisters-in-law, Nadine Dee and Elizabeth Dee; and nephew, Douglas Dee.
