While consistently being labeled one of the best experiences in motor sports, Iowa Speedway is aiming to outdo its usual standards with this weekend’s Fan Appreciation promotion.
Any college student with proper identification can purchase a ticket for $5. All First Responders and their families can purchase tickets for $10 and they will be recognized in special pre-race ceremonies on Saturday and Sunday.
“We are so proud of the critically important work these heroic First Responders perform every day, in every city and town across the nation,” Iowa Speedway President Stan Clement said. “It’s the least we can do to thank them publically, and to give them an opportunity to enjoy our last weekend of racing this year for just ten bucks a ticket for either Saturday’s or Sunday’s race.”
This weekend’s racing will feature action from the ARCA stock car series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on the 0.875 tri-oval.
The offer from the speedway seems to be a great way to close out the 2013 racing season. Some of the highlights of this season included the rise of Colfax teen Sydney McLaughlin, who sang the national anthem at one race and went on to sing it at Iowa State Fair opening ceremony, NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski wining the August Nationwide race and fan favorite Austin Dillon participating in the speedway’s charity walk.
Iowa Speedway President of Sales and Marketing Chuck Spicer elaborated on the promotion as well.
“Our ‘Fan Appreciation’ weekend evolved from a simple desire to thank the fans for making this an outstanding race season,” Spicer said. “Besides free admission for ages 17 and younger and military personnel, we decided to give college students a good reason to sample our product with this ‘five dollars for any seat in the house’ offer. We are expecting a big crowd on both days, and look forward to welcoming everyone to our last race weekend of 2013.”
