Jasper County Republican

Central Committee

On Monday, Aug. 26, the Jasper County Republican Central Committee met at the community center in Sully. This is the first of several meetings in which the Jasper County Republicans intend to move their monthly meeting place to different locations within the county.

Monte Goodyk, a Sully resident, said that he favored moving the Republican meetings to different cities and hopes that the county Republicans would return to Sully again soon.

The main speaker was Sam Clovis, a well-known radio personality and retired Air Force colonel and college professor, who appeared by Skype from Sioux City. Clovis had two speaking engagements on the same night, and the use of Skype was the solution. Clovis is seeking the Republican nomination for the United States Senate. Clovis spoke about the qualities a voter should be looking for in a United States Senator. He said “a senator should be willing to place the people above himself.”
