Newton freshmen go 2-2 to open season

Newton’s freshmen volleyball team got off to a solid start at home Tuesday. It went 2-2.

The Cardinals defeated Lynnville-Sully 21-18, 21-15 and CMB 21-7, 21-12, They lost 21-16, 21-17 to Dowling Catholic and came up short against Carlisle 21-19, 21-14.

Taylor Shipley was credited with 30 set assists for the night. Ryan Rousch was 28-of-30 serving with three ace serves. Emma Meyer delivered 11 kills, going 23-of-28 on attacks.
