Anthony James ‘A.J.’ Foust

Anthony James "A.J." Foust, 19, of Prairie City, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at the PCM High School Gymnasium in Monroe. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery south of Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the PCM High School. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the A.J. Foust Memorial Fund and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Wayne E. and Jane A. (Schutte) Foust, A.J. was born on July 21, 1994 in Des Moines. He graduated from PCM High School in 2012. A.J. was a member of the Prairie City Church of the Brethren but attended all of the churches in Prairie City. He was a friend to all. A.J. was always there for anyone for anything. During high school, A.J. was very active. He was on the 2012 State Tournament basketball team; he was a manager for the football team and involved with Thespians and the Theatre Group at PCM. He also loved to fish and bowl, but most of all he was there to help take care of his mother after her stroke.

Those left to honor his memory include his mother, Jane of Prairie City; a sister, Ashley Foust of Prairie City; grandparents, Norman and LaRae Schutte of Newton; an uncle and aunt, Jim and Lori Schutte of Newton; and two cousins, Jennifer and Jake Schutte.  Also surviving are many relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his father in 2002; and his grandparents, Jack and Pearl Foust.
