DES MOINES (AP) — Police have charged two people with driving off with a bag of money that fell out of an armored van near downtown Des Moines.
KCCI-TV reports the incident happened Wednesday morning as the armored van was leaving the Community Choice Credit Union.
Sgt. Jason Halifax say a bag of money fell from the van when a door malfunctioned as the vehicle was turning a corner.
Halifax says a car stopped and someone picked up the bag and left.
Police learned the license plate number and found the car in a shopping mall parking lot.
Officers waited by the car until two people returned, then charged Samantha Jackman, of Des Moines, and Tyler Critchlow, of Dallas Center, with first-degree theft.
Both are 20.
It wasn’t clear whether they have lawyers.
