Newton lineman camp is on tap

Fundamentals of being a football lineman — offensive or defensive — are the focus of a three-day camp next week in Newton.

This is a non-contact camp conducted by Newton Senior High head football coach Ed Ergenbright and his staff.

The camp is Monday through Wednesday, July 22-24, at H.A. Lynn Stadium. Cost for the camp in $25 per camper or $40, if there are two campers from one family. Participants receive a free camp shirt.

The first session is for boys going into the seventh and eighth grades this fall and goes from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Boys going into ninth through 12th grades this fall will go from 8 to 9:30 p.m.

Boys can register at the door 20 minutes before the start of their age-group session.

Campers report to the locker room facility on the south end of the stadium grounds each day of camp. They should bring shorts, a T-shirt and football cleats. Water will be provided during camp.
