Drawing for Theater Ticket Vouchers
We have partnered with the Old Creamery Theatre in Amana to offer our patrons a chance drawing of 2 "$3 off Adult ticket" vouchers (We have many!) and a $20 Voucher to "Moonlight and Magnolias." Stop by the Circulation Desk to fill out an entry form today! Winners will be drawn on July 10. The play runs from July 11 to 28. Be sure to tell your friends. "Moonlight & Magnolia" Synopsis: This is the hilarious behind-the-scenes account of three men who spent a weekend locked in an office rewriting the screenplay for the movie, "Gone With The Wind," while the cameras were already rolling. See what “really” happened as the producer and director act out key scenes for the screenwriter for what eventually became one of the greatest movies ever made.
Chasing 4 Life-Storm Chasers
This event is recommended for middle school aged and older. Join us at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, to learn about Heart of a Hero-Storm Chasers and Emergency Responders! No preregistration is necessary and will be in the meeting room of the library. The program is called Heart of a Hero. What happens when we dig deep inside ourselves to find that thing that makes us help others. Learn all about how responders do their job, like K9, search and rescue, fire, police, etc. Witness a drone in action!
Coffee & Movie: Across the Universe
Stop by the library meeting room at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, for a showing of Across the Universe. Synopsis: A love story set against the backdrop of the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, mind exploration and rock 'n roll, moving from the dockyards of Liverpool to the creative psychedelia of Greenwich Village, from the riot-torn streets of Detroit to the killing fields of Vietnam. If you are a fan of The Beatles’ music, this is a must-see!
Visiting Author-Bob Dunbar
Author Bob Dunbar will be visiting the library at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, to discuss his newest book. Bob Dunbar is a free-lance writer whose work has appeared in a number of historical publications. Born and educated in Cedar Rapids, he spent several years living and working in the American West. He currently resides in Des Moines, Iowa, where he is at work on his next novel. Bob Dunbar will be speaking about what it is like to be an author and about his newest release: To Fame's Proud Cliff.
