Church Club Notes

Primetime Fellowship

Ron Nearmyer welcomed 47 Primetimers to the monthly potluck on June 17 at Community Heights Alliance Church Gathering Room.

Pastor John Patterson led devotions, asking what or who do you think of when using the word meek. He used the Beatitude, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them using the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5.

June hosts were Lisa Blommers, Freda Ahrens, John VanderSchel, Dean and Letitia Shore and Harold Brown. Tables were decorated by Pat Butin with a racing car theme. June birthdays (only celebrated if you are present) were Vicky Horn, Jerry Frohwein and Marlene Waddle; anniversaries were Jim and Nancy Douglas (51 years) and Bob and Donna Baarda (60 years). Door prizes went to Julie Moss, Alix Lunen, Carolyn Van Vark, and Janice Lyman. Thanks to Julie Moss for presenting an inspirational program with her music and even a free lesson yodeling.  It was delightful.

On Sunday, April 21, Primetimers gathered at the church to prepare 200 sandwiches, cookies/bars for Hope Ministries in Des Moines. The group unable to tour at that time, so this is an opportunity to see how your help was appreciated for those in need.

The next Primetime meeting will be Monday at 6 p.m. at the Community Heights Alliance Church gathering room. Hosts will be Gladys and Chuck Harris, Jack Calhoun and Marlene Waddle. Rickety Roads Bluegrass Band will provide entertainment.

Note location change for July 27 breakfast. The 9 a.m. breakfast will be in the park at Maytag West Shelter. Gladys Harris is preparing the egg casseroles, Freda Ahrens will be making sausage and homemade biscuits and gravy, and Freda DeGreef will be bringing the coffee. The rest should bring a quart of juice or a quart of fresh fruit. There will be a sign up sheet at the church information booth. Leave your telephone number as you sign in, this would save lots of headaches in case of an emergency.  Pastor Mike Osterbauer is in charge of devotions. Judy and Larry Bell will be setting up tables and I’m sure they could use some help.

Primetime potluck and fellowship are usually the third Monday of each month with good food and fellowship, a devotional and program. The outings are usually the last Thursday of the month. Note the time of 9 a.m. for the July 25 breakfast.
