Mark B. Macy, 64, of Sun Prairie, Wis., passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 24, 2013, after a brief illness.
He was born on Aug. 2, 1948, in Oskaloosa, the son of Bryce and Helen (Vanderpol) Macy. Mark graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa. After graduation from college, he was drafted into the Army, where he served in the Vietnam War. After the service, he lived in Des Moines and worked for Hawkeye Insurance and later transferred to Madison, Wis. He then worked for General Casualty Insurance in Sun Prairie, Wis., until his retirement.
Mark enjoyed golfing and watching sports and was an avid reader. He also served on the board of Iowa Realty Trust.
Mark is survived by his brothers, Curt (Linda) and William Macy; and nieces Brooke Macy and Stephanie (David) Morrow. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sully Cemetery.
