Despite the weather, the Newton seventh and eighth grade girls track team had a very successful season.

With the lack of practicing outside for a lot of days, the team improved on their performances throughout the season.  All of the girls worked hard despite the conditions.

There were three school records broken this season.  The seventh grade shuttle hurdle team of Lane Dethrow, Liz McVey, Audrey Lucas, and Morgann Eide ran with a record time of 1:17.09.

Morgann Eide broke the seventh grade 100 meter hurdles record with a time of 17.21.  Taylor Shipley broke the eighth grade 100 meter hurdles record with a time of 17.06.

The future of Newton girls track looks bright.  The coaching staff looks forward to next season.

The team was coached by Dave Hook, Kayla Long, and Eric Vander Velden.
