Area Roundup: Teams compete in HOI meet
The Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, Prairie City-Monroe and Colfax-Mingo boys and girls track teams competed in the Heart of Iowa Conference track meet at Roland-Story High School on Monday, but full results were not made available as of press time.
On the boys’ side, CMB had the highest finish of the area teams by taking third with 94 points. Colfax-Mingo finished eighth and PCM took 10th. On the girls’ side, PCM topped the list of area competitors by taking fourth place with 87 points. CMB was right behind in fifth with 67 and Colfax-Mingo was ninth with 32.
The Raider girls didn’t win any events, but their 4x800-meter relay team of Ashley Girard, Kayla Hennick, Shelby Berg and Anne Deutsch placed second, as did Bridget Hurley in the 400. In field events, Alex Broderick finished third in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches and Abbie Haupert was third in the discus with a throw of 106-10. Toni Spencer finished fourth in the long jump despite being seeded 16th coming into the event.
