Firefighters respond to blaze southwest of Newton

Newton firefighters responded to a fire call at 1632 W. 32nd St. S. around 1:30 a.m. this morning.

When they arrived, they discovered a barn fully ablaze, as well as three or four outbuildings that were just igniting. According to emergency radio communications, no people or animals were found in any of the buildings.

Officials with the Newton Fire Department were not available to provide further details, or to comment on a potential cause of the blaze, as of press time.
