Public hearings to be focus of school board meeting
Monday’s 6 p.m. school board meeting at Berg Elementary School will revolve around the district’s three planned public hearings.
The first public hearing will take place at 6:15 p.m. over the district’s proposed surveillance camera project. The board is seeking public input on its plan to implement more security cameras into every building within the district. The project will be financed 50 percent from a federal grant and 50 percent from sales tax funds. The board will read the different bids and vote and select a bid later in the meeting after hearing the public’s input.
The second public hearing will start at 6:20 p.m. and focus on the 2012-2013 fiscal year budget amendment. The proposed amended budget will increase instructional costs from $19,661,304 to $20,541,275, total support services from $8,335,290 to $10,464,773, non-instructional programs from $1,191,188 to $1,283,000 and other total expenditures from $3,752,110 to $3,802,152. All increases were cited as “to reflect actual expenditures.”
