Kids scour the gym at the Newton YMCA for Easter Eggs filled with candy during Saturday's Hy-Vee/YMCA Easter Egg hunt. Despite being moved inside due to muddy conditions, hundreds of children participated in the holiday event.

Hundreds of children and their parents participated in the annual Easter egg hunt at the Newton YMCA on Saturday.

The Mission Coalition sponsored the community “The Way of the Cross” walk during the noon hour on Good Friday. It started at the First Presbyterian Church and continued through each of the seven churches northeast of the square. At each church was a reading of two of the 14 Stations of the Cross and the singing of a hymn. Joe Kent carried the cross during the walk between two of the churches.
