Herrlinger Family at Cowboy Church tonight

While Bar None Cowboy Church in Colfax often welcomes musical duos, trios and even quartets, they’ll play host to double that (and then some) at tonight’s service as they welcome the Herrlinger family.

The Herrlingers are from the winding backroads of Boyceville, Wis. A homeschooling family of nine, they enjoy music that is melodious, joyful, and God-honoring. Ranging in ages from 9 to 24, the seven children are our greatest source of joy and blessing outside of our relationship with Jesus Christ.

In the fall of 2006, the the family band began with an acoustic guitar, an acoustic bass guitar, a fiddle, mandolin and banjo. As the months rolled by, they began to pursue opportunities for sharing their music and their faith with others.

Since creating the band with those initial five instruments, the Herrlingers have added another fiddle, a second mandolin, a hammered dulcimer, an accordian and a resonator guitar, also known as a dobro.

The Herrlingers provide music and sharing for churches and church functions, prisons, nursing homes, community events, homeless shelters and pretty much any other opportunity that come their way. Their programs include a variety of styles, including traditional hymns, a capella, instrumental arrangements, folk styles, original works, and old-fashioned gospel with a hint of bluegrass.

The Bar None Cowboy Church meets every Thursday at the Jasper County Fairgrounds in Colfax. The service begins with a time of food and fellowship at 7 p.m.
