Iowa State women to face Gonzaga in tourney

DES MOINES (AP) — The Iowa State women’s basketball team is headed to the NCAA tournament for the seventh year in a row.

The Cyclones are a No. 5 seed, but they will have to face 12th-seeded Gonzaga on the road on Saturday.

The winner will play either fourth-seeded Georgia or Montana.

Iowa State has won 23 games so far this year. The Cyclones finished second in the Big 12 regular season standings and in the conference tournament, falling to top-seeded Baylor 75-47.

Iowa State has dropped its last two first-round games in the NCAA tournament. The Cyclones lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay in the opening round in 2012.

Gonzaga has reached the regional semifinals in each of the last three seasons.
