To the editor:
Congratulations to the director, cast, and crews of “Fiddler on the Roof.” The performance was outstanding. Ty Rushing got into the specifics, so I won’t go there, other than to thank the community members who helped to bring this production to the stage.
And what a beautiful facility in which to perform. Newton did not always have that. When I came to Newton in 1969 to teach speech and drama and direct the theatre productions, I was using a stage at the end of the gym for drama performances.
That was not uncommon in those days. We made it work, but what a wonderful facility our school and community have now. Thanks to all who made that happen a number of years ago.
I attended the performance on Friday night and there was a near capacity crowd. I hope Saturday’s crowd was as large.
Theatre is alive at NHS! Students and Melinda Campbell Worthington, don’t let it die. Keep up the good work.
