Newton champs to be honored at state tourney

The Cardinals will be honored between the Class 3A and 4A games at the state basketball tournament Saturday night, returning to the city where they eventually won back-to-back titles.

Thirteen of the 14 members of the teams will be in attendance for the ceremony. Karen Altemeier Oliver will fill in for her brother, Tom, who was a crucial member to the team and has since passed away.
