• A 13-year-old Newton boy was charged with fifth-degree theft at Berg Middle School after authorities responded to called at 11:55 a.m. Dec. 17 by school officials to investigate the theft of a stolen pair of Air Jordan shoes. The school informed officers that the shoes were missing and another student was wearing the allegedly stolen shoes. The 13-year-old admitted that he stole the shoes, which were worth $129. The case is being handled by juvenile authorities.
