Des Moines Public Schools to remain closed Friday
DES MOINES (AP) — The largest public school district in Iowa has decided to cancel classes a second day in the wake of fierce storm that dropped more than a foot of snow in the Des Moines area.
Officials for Des Moines Public Schools announced just after 5:30 a.m. that the district would not hold classes Friday. The district said weather conditions as well as power outages at several school buildings led to the decision. However, district and school offices will be open.
Classes will resume on Jan. 2 following the winter recess.
