• Martin A. Watters, 44, of Newton was charged with criminal trespass after authorities responded to a complaint at 10 a.m. Sept. 28 at 1120 W. Ninth St. S. of a male in the resident’s yard with a barking dog. The resident told police that the man had identified himself as a worker for Direct TV and indicating he was checking out the residence. Watters was charged with trespass on Nov. 15 and released to appear in court.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 15 and older.
