Williamson’s career day leads ISU women to win
AMES (ISU) — Brynn Williamson was 5-of-5 from beyond the three-point line and had 17 points and 7 rebounds as the Iowa State women’s basketball team (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) beat North Dakota (0-2, 0-0 Big Sky), 73-34 on Sunday in Hilton Coliseum.
Williamson, a sophomore, put up career-highs in points, rebounds, blocked shots (3), assists (5) and three-pointers made (5).
The Cyclones jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead, holding UND scoreless for the first 6:11 of the half. The fast start was a sign of good things to come, as Iowa State continued to expand their behind an efficient shooting effort, hitting 17-of-24 shots from the field in the first half. Behind their 71 percent shooting clip in the half, the Cyclones headed to the the locker room at halftime with a 41-15 lead, lead by Williamson with 11 points on 3-of-3 shooting from beyond the three-point line.
