NHS softball players wrap up fall league play

Newton Senior High School softball players recently finished up their fall season with a 3-3-2 record. This fall league was sponsored by the Ames Girls Softball Association (AGSA) and it was the first time NHS girls have played fall ball in Ames.

Newton took a young team up to Ames for four weekends and had the opportunity to play some teams it doesn’t usually get to see in the regular season. The girls took the field against the state champion Earlham Cardinals and played a strong game against a good ball team.

The Cards focused on their hitting this fall and their hard work resulted in a number of home runs hit by Madison Bagnall (4), Ashton Hoffman (2) and Morgan Davros (1). Jackie Twattle, Fran Lucas and Bailey Davis also added some power hitting to help out the team.
