Sheriff of Tama County endorses Hoffman in Jasper County sheriff race

To the editor:

As the Sheriff of Tama County, I wish to offer this letter of support to elect Steve Hoffman as the next Sheriff of Jasper County. I have been acquainted with Steve Hoffman for more than 21 years; first while he was a police officer in the town of Gilman, bordering Tama and Jasper Counties.

I became most familiar with him during his assignment to the Mid-Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force and his subsequent promotion as the Marshall County Jail Administrator.

I know Steve to have been a tireless investigator that served with a tenacious group of dedicated drug task force agents. Regardless if the investigation involved a drug trafficking organization or a local methamphetamine lab, Steve could be counted on for his energy, knowledge and attention to detail.

As Steve’s career and responsibilities progressed, I have seen him grow into a leader that is respected by law enforcement officers across this State. Steve has also always been willing to make himself and his resources available to other agencies.

Lastly, I know Steve to be actively involved in the Iowa State Sheriffs’ and Deputies’ Association, where he has served the legislative committee on many public safety policy issues important to Iowans, such as sex offenders, synthetic drugs, mental health and disability redesign to name a few.

Steve’s illustration of leading by example, his knowledge base including jail operations, integrity, concern for officer and public safety, coupled with a genuine servant attitude make him a great candidate for sheriff.

Steve shared with me that rather than campaigning for or against something, he humbly viewed his candidacy as applying for a position with the voters as the selection committee. I urge you to view Steve’s credentials and accomplishments at Hoffmanforsheriff.com and select Steve Hoffman on Nov. 6 by voting for him as Sheriff of Jasper County.
