To the editor:
In less than a week, the citizens of Jasper County will have a decision to make regarding their choice on the next Jasper County Sheriff. As for me, I will be voting for John Halferty.
Why am I supporting John Halferty? It definitely isn’t because he is associated with a certain political party. It isn’t even because he is a family friend. I am voting for John Halferty because he is a leader and a man of integrity.
He has shown his dedication and leadership in this town/county for more than 25 years. Through the good and the bad, he has always been a man of integrity, doing the right thing even when it wasn’t popular. Not only is he a leader, he has also trained and developed leaders out of others.
My husband is living proof of that. John Halferty has always been a mentor for him because he is a man that leads by example and challenges others to be better.
In John’s spare time, he is volunteering as a youth leader and a football coach in Colfax. He is a giving, caring, strong Christian man who lives his life according to his faith. Anyone who knows him well can attest to that.
John Halferty is the right choice for this county. If you don’t believe me, go check out his Facebook page, “Halferty for Sheriff 2012.” There you will find all of the endorsements he has received from people who work first-hand with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
The Jasper County deputies, the current Jasper County Sheriff, the Jasper County jailers, the Jasper County Attorney, the Newton Chief of Police, the Jasper County Reserves, officers from the Newton Police Department, other Jasper County law enforcement leaders, and so many more have written endorsements for Halferty.
They all know that he is the best choice for this county due to the leadership he has shown over and over again throughout the years.
I want to encourage you to put your political views aside this election and vote for the right man for the job, John Halferty for sheriff.
