Local 4-H students attend camp-out

Twenty five middle school 4-H youth from Jasper, Marion and Poweshiek counties recently attended  an Intermediate 4-H Camp-Out at the State 4-H Center in Madrid. While there, the group participated in team-building courses such as a low ropes course, a creek walk, night hike, cooking over an open fire and zip lining. They also attended a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) event and did the 2012 National Youth Science Experiment “The Eco Bot” challenge. Attending from Jasper County were (pictured above) Avery Hlavacek, Ethan Opfer, Wade Zahurones, Brett Vanden Hoek, Rory Van Gorp, Mallory Iske, Autumn Engle, Logan Zaabel, Smantha Craig, Paige Schmidt, chaperone Susan Hlavacek and county youth coordinator Stacey Wilson.
