PCM volleyball swept by Roland-Story in finale

The Prairie City-Monroe volleyball team wrapped up its Heart of Iowa Conference season Tuesday night, although maybe not with the result it was hoping for.

The Mustangs (8-17, 4-5) fell to Roland-Story 3-0 in the match, which was also the final regular-season match for the team. Seniors Kelsey Townsend and Alex Samson led PCM with six kills apiece, while Samson also had a team-high 12 assists. Junior Abbi Gilson led the team with seven digs while also recording four kills. As a team, PCM went 42-for-45 in serves.

PCM will begin Class 3A regional play on Monday when it travels to Maxwell to take on county foe Collins-Maxwell-Baxter (7-13, 2-7).
