Hahn’s defensive streak makes Big 12 history

AMES (ISU) — Iowa State libero Kristen Hahn made Big 12 history on Monday, becoming the first league player to ever earn four-straight Big 12 weekly awards in any category with her fourth-consecutive Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week Award.

Last week at No. 14 Kansas State and Texas Tech, Hahn averaged 6.00 digs per set, picking up 24 digs against the Red Raiders on Saturday for her 25-straight double-digit dig performance and her eighth 20-plus dig match of the season. The Cedar Rapids native served a career-high three aces in each of last week’s matches,

After five conference matches, Hahn remains atop the Big 12 dig standings with an average of 6.05 digs per set, more than 1.50 digs per set more than the second-place player. Hahn also is tied for fourth in aces per set in conference play with an average of 0.42. Overall this season, Hahn is one of two Big 12 players averaging better than 5.00 digs per set, at 5.08, and is the driving force behind Iowa State’s league-leading 17.42 digs per set in Big 12 play.
