Peter leads Mustangs’ runners at North Polk

It may have been a small invitational, but the Prairie City-Monroe cross country teams made their presence felt at North Polk on Monday.

Junior Rachel Peter took third overall with a time of 17 minutes, 28 seconds in the girls race, while senior Rhett Gainey led the boys with a 10th-place finish and a time of 18:33. The Mustang boys took fourth out of five teams, while the girls didn’t complete a scoring roster.

Other runners for the boys included junior Matt Chizek (13th, 18:52), Alek Breckenridge (38th, 21:22), Troy Vittetoe (46th, 22:01), Trenton Howard (48th, 22:22) and Charlie Schott (56th, 23:46).

Rounding out the field for the PCM girls were Jenna Little and Hannah Vignovich in 33rd and 34th, respectively, with times of 22:36, and Sophia Babcock in 36th at 28:18.
