Bob Braafhart (right) of Newton is the Newton Police Department’s Travelin’ Traffic Ace XVI drawing winner from the fourth traffic safety mug distribution. Braafhart was observed having safe and courteous driving skills, such as driving the speed limit and wearing a seatbelt. As a drawing winner, he received a package of donated prizes, including a family bowling party from Cardinal Lanes, three complimentary passes to the Valle Drive-In, a coupon for a free fruit pie at Perkins, a free combo meal at Kentucky Fried Chicken, four free Taco John’s breakfast combo meals, four free Taco John’s combo meals, a free large pizza from Godfather’s, a free buffet from Pizza Ranch, two free 6-inch sandwiches at Subway and two free two-scoop sundaes from Culver’s. The Travelin’ Traffic Ace campaign features a travel mug awarded by a police officer who observes drivers displaying safe and courteous driving. The travel mug is refillable with free fountain soda pop provided by local participating businesses, and mug winners are eligible for the drawings for additional prizes.
