Mark Brownrigg

Mark Joseph Brownrigg, the son of Joseph Richard and Marilyn Kay (Bolton) Brownrigg, was born Oct. 30, 1956, in Corning, Iowa. He graduated from the Creston Community Senior High School with the class of 1975.

On Sept. 7, 1991, Mark was united in marriage with Debra Ruth James in Newton, Iowa. Mark had worked as an associate to children with special needs at the Decorah High School, was a past owner of the Brown Shoe Fit Company, and enjoyed being a stay at home dad. He was an avid golfer and member of the Decorah Golf and Country Club and a Green Bay Packer fan. Mark also enjoyed coaching his kid’s sports teams.

Mark died on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, in Austin, Minn. He was 55 years old. Mark was preceded in death by his dad, Joseph; a niece, Kristin; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Those left to honor Mark’s memory include his wife, Debbie of Austin, Minn.; his children, Sara K. and Brett J. Brownrigg of Austin, Minn., and Alex Morgan of Story City; his mother, Marilyn Brownrigg of Creston; his brothers, David (Denice) Brownrigg of Creston Brian (Carol) Brownrigg of Perry, and Brendon Brownrigg of Los Angeles, Calif.; his in-laws, Dean and Elaine James of Newton and his extended family.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be designated in Mark’s name for his children’s education fund.
