Smith, Baskerville united in marriage

Tania Nicole Smith and Lester Martin Baskerville were united in marriage on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. at The Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, in the presence of 200-plus guests. Pastor Bob Price presided over the ceremony. Parents of the couple are Doug and Beth Smith and Lester and Ginny Baskerville, all of Newton.

Tania’s maids of honor were her sisters, Natalie Smith and Sarita Smith. Bridesmaids were Kelsey Greene, the bride’s cousin, and Jenna Barge, the couple’s friend. Junior Bridesmaid was Olivia Baskerville, cousin of the groom, Madelyn Picket, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. Marty’s best man was Will Mortenson and groomsmen were Justin Osborn, Adam Turney, and Jon Frasier, all friends. Junior groomsmen was Blake Baskerville, cousin of the groom. Sean Finch, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.

Ushers were Keith Braden and Josh De Gooey, friends of the couple. Tania’s personal attendants were Kathy Pickett, her cousin, Josi Arguello and Kristi Brock, her friends. Guestbook, bubble and program attendants were Megan and Livi Wood, cousins of the bride. Gift attendants were Alexis and Akira Harrington, cousins of the bride. The flower attendant was Kristi Brock.

Special family members in attendance included the bride’s grandparents, Bille Farland, and Wayne and Jeanne Smith; the groom’s grandparents Luvern and Beulah Baskerville.

Tania wore an Oleg Cassini white strapless organza ball gown, with a satin bodice, beaded embroidery and a cathedral-length train. She topped off her look with a rhinestone tiara and chapel-length veil. She carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses, purple and white lilyanthas, purple chrysanthemums and carnations. The maids of honor and bridesmaids carried single white roses and the flower girl carried a white basket and scattered white rose petals along the aisle.

The wedding reception, diner and dance, hosted by Galen and Lori Modlin, were held immediately following the ceremony in the Newton Club at The Iowa Speedway. The DJ was Denny Farland, uncle of the bride. Serving cake were the bride’s cousins, Kris Etter and Jana Soma.

Tania is a 2006 graduate of Newton High School and is employed at Hy-Vee in Newton. Marty is a 2004 graduate of Newton High School and is employed at Central Iowa Water in Newton. The couple is residing in the Newton area.
