North Mahaska too much for L-S volleyball

Alberts’ double-double not enough for Hawks against Warhawks

NEW SHARON — North Mahaska served up 11 aces and a pair of double-doubles was too much for Lynnville-Sully’s volleyball team to overcome on Monday during a South Iowa Cedar League matchup.

The Warhawks stayed near the top of the conference after a 25-14, 25-23, 25-20 home win over the Hawks.

Elise Alberts led the Hawks with 14 assists and 14 digs. Aubree Arthur added seven kills, four blocks and six digs, Paige James tallied six kills and eight digs and Alexy Conover put down five kills and had 19 digs.

Carsyn McFarland had 10 digs and two aces, Abby Squires registered two kills, two blocks and five digs and Majesta Vos tallied four blocks and two digs. Natalie Roberts chipped in seven digs and two aces, Morgan Jones finished with five digs and Jordan Spooner collected four digs.

The Hawks (5-17 overall, 2-4 in the SICL) were 53-of-57 with five aces. North Mahaska (16-7, 6-1) had 11 aces.

Regan Grewe led everyone with 11 kills, 16 digs and six aces, Sydney Anderson added 12 kills and 18 digs and Caitlyn Sanders dished out 18 assists.
