L-S wrestling goes 1-2 in road quadrangular

Miles Mintle, Reese Dunsbergen lead Hawks with 3-0 nights

PACKWOOD — Reese Dunsbergen and Miles Mintle both went 3-0, but Lynnville-Sully’s wrestling opened the season with just one win during a road quadrangular at Pekin High School on Tuesday.

The Hawks downed host Pekin 45-18 but lost 66-12 to Ottumwa and 36-21 to Davis County.

Dunsbergen won all three of his matches at 160 pounds by fall. Mintle (220) won twice by fall and took a forfeit against Pekin.

Joining Mintle in the win column against Pekin were Elizabeth Elliott (106), Caleb Rea (132) and Malcolm Hay (170), who all won by forfeit. Skyler Stoll (126), Terran Gosselink (138) and Dunsbergen all won by fall and Max Mintle won 16-9.

In the loss to Ottumwa, Miles Mintle and Dunsbergen claimed the Hawks’ only wins and both won by pin.

In loss to Davis County, Dunsbergen, Hay and Miles Mintle all won by fall, while Stoll claimed a 7-4 win by decision. Stoll and Hay both were 2-1 on the night.
