PCM football snaps skid with win over Albia

Mustangs run wild in Homecoming victory over Blue Demons

MONROE — PCM’s football team snapped a three-game losing streak with a dominating win over Albia on Friday night.

The Mustangs led 22-0 after one quarter and scored 50 straight points during a 50-6 victory over the Blue Demons in Class 2A District 7 play.

PCM’s fourth straight win over Albia also came on Homecoming. And Homecoming King Aidan Anderson ran for 225 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries.

Jake Eslinger was credited with a tackle in the end zone for a safety to put PCM in front 2-0 in the first.

Anderson scored three straight TDs to end the first period. He reached paydirt on runs of 20, 43 and 26 yards and added a fourth TD on a 12-yard run in the second.

The second-half touchdowns came from Kaden Hale and Adrian Robbins. Hale scored on a 2-yard run with 9:36 to play in the third and Robbins scored on a 2-yard run a few minutes later.

In the fourth, Robbins scored again from 5 yards out. Albia’s TD came in the final 3 minutes.

The Mustangs (2-3 overall, 1-1 in the district) rushed for 367 yards and averaged 9.9 yards per carry in the win. Albia (1-4, 0-2) recorded 159 total yards in the loss.

Robbins finished with 60 yards and two scores on nine carries, Hale gained 30 yards and scored one TD on eight carries and Ayden Helton added 20 yards on two carries.

Gavin Van Gorp was 4-for-5 through the air for 81 yards. He also rushed for 25 yards on two carries. Carson VandeLune hauled in three passes for 70 yards and Matt Rosonke had the other 11 yards on his one catch.

Gavin Fenton led the defense with 6 1/2 tackles and also had a 46-yard kickoff return.

Cade Lindsay finished with five tackles, while Donovan Nickelson, Rosonke and Eslinger all had 4 1/2 tackles. Will Oelmann collected four tackles and Eslinger finished with two tackles for loss.
