L-S football wins fourth straight, downs Madrid on Senior Night

Hawks rush for 247 yards in win over Tigers

SULLY — Since a season-opening road loss to Class 1A Pleasantville, Lynnville-Sully’s football team has been on quite a run.

The Hawks won their fourth straight game and stayed unbeaten in Class A District 6 play on Friday following a 21-14 win against Madrid on Senior Night.

It was the first meeting between the two programs since 2009. Madrid won all three games from 2007-2009 by at least 41 points, but the Hawks got the best of the Tigers in the most recent battle.

Corder Noun Harder rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown and the Hawks ran for 247 yards in the win.

The Hawks (4-1 overall, 3-0 in the district) led 6-0 at halftime. Noun Harder’s 63-yard TD run early in the first quarter was the only score of the half.

In the second half, L-S outscored Madrid (0-5, 0-3) 15-14. Conner Maston ran for a pair of short TDs for the Hawks.

Maston finished with 44 rushing yards and the two scores and also threw for 28 yards. Kyle Squires had 65 rushing yards and caught one pass for 14 yards. Caleb Rea also had a 14-yard reception.

Defensively, Lane Fisk led the Hawks with seven tackles and one interception, Squires finished with six tackles and Max Mintle tallied 5 1/2 tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack.

Maston collected four tackles and one pick and Mathias Torres and Ty Jones each had four tackles.

Matt Fuller led Madrid with 150 rushing yards and a touchdown.
