L-S volleyball loses SICL match to Montezuma

MONTEZUMA — Lynnville-Sully’s volleyball team hung with Montezuma in the first two sets before ultimately falling in three to the Bravettes during South Iowa Cedar League play on Thursday night.

Montezuma improved to 2-0 in the league with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-13 win over the Hawks. The Bravettes are 8-7 overall.

Elise Alberts had 13 assists and six digs, Aliya James collected 20 digs and Alexy Conover tallied five kills and six digs in the loss.

Abby Squires put down six kills and had three digs, Aubree Arthur added three kills and five digs and Lily Zylstra chipped in eight digs and two kills. Makayla Tice had two kills and three digs and Jordan Spooner finished with six digs and two aces.

The Hawks (4-14 overall, 0-3 in the conference) were 52-of-59 in serves with Conover serving 8-of-8, Alberts finishing 10-of-11 and Spooner hitting on 16 of her 18 serves. Kennedy Kessling served 7-of-8.
