NEW SHARON — Colfax-Mingo’s Cole Bracewell did just about everything for the Tigerhawk football team on Friday during the district opener against North Mahaska.
Bracewell threw for 276 yards, rushed for 75 more and scored five total touchdowns during a 35-32 road triumph over the Warhawks.
The Tigerhawk quarterback also recorded seven tackles on defense, averaged 36 yards per punt and recovered an onside kick in the final minute to secure the Class A District 6 victory.
The game was tied at 7-all after one quarter but North Mahaska led 19-14 at halftime. The Tigerhawks still trailed after three but outscored the Warhawks (0-3 overall, 0-2 in the district) 14-7 in the fourth to complete the rally.
Bracewell was 23-of-29 through the air for Colfax-Mingo (1-2, 1-0) and tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Justin Myers. He threw one pick but rushed for 75 yards and three scores on 25 carries.
Myers hauled in five passes for 82 yards and the two TDs, Colton Lind caught six passes for 39 yards and Curtis Horras gained 66 yards on his four catches.
Cael Bracewell caught four passes for 31 yards and Nate Jones snagged two catches for 36 yards and tallied an interception on defense.
Myers and Joe Earles each had 4 1/2 tackles, Myers had an interception and Earles caught one pass for seven yards. Trey Hockemeier tallied four tackles and Xavier Woods finished with 3 1/2 tackles. Grant Alexander, who also plays on the offensive line, registered 1 1/2 tackles for loss.
