Newton boys shut out twice at B-F tournament

Cardinals lose 6-0 to ranked Bluejays

BONDURANT — Newton’s boys soccer team was shut out twice at the Bondurant-Farrar tournament on Saturday.

The Cardinals lost 6-0 to Class 2A No. 9 Bondurant-Farrar and also was defeated 2-0 by Council Bluffs Lewis Central.

Against the Bluejays, Newton was out-shot 20-3 and had B-F had a 14-2 shots on goal advantage. The Bluejays (11-3) led 3-0 at halftime.

Caleb Lawson had nine saves for Newton (6-8). Oskar White tallied three goals and one assist for B-F.

Newton trailed Lewis Central (10-4) 1-0 at halftime. Lawson made 11 saves in that loss.

Newton was out-shot 15-9 and it was 8-6 in shots on goal.
