Newton girls golf downs Norwalk

NORWALK — Rylee Heryford backed up the 34 she shot on Monday with another 34 on Tuesday, leading Newton’s girls golf team to a win over Norwalk.

The Cardinals shot a 179 to defeat the Warriors, who carded a 191, in a Little Hawkeye Conference matchup at the par 33 Willow Creek Blue Course.

Heryford was the meet medalist with her career-best 34. Abby Price was the runner-up with a 44 and Bekah Vasseau shot a 46. Ella Price was the final counting score with a personal-best 55.

Madison Price and Emily Zink had non-counting scores of 57 and 58, respectively. Zink’s 58 was a personal-best. Mackenzie Schippers also shot a 72 for the Newton JV.
