Newton girls golf finishes second in road LHC triangular

GRIMES — Newton’s Rylee Heryford was the meet medalist but Dallas Center-Grimes put four of its golfers in the top six and cruised to the home win during a Little Hawkeye Conference triangular.

Heryford shot a 39 on the par-36 Beaver Creek Golf Club to lead the Cardinals to a second-place finish. Newton shot a 199.

DCG won the meet with a 185 and Indianola carded a 230.

Newton put three golfers in the top eight. After Heryford, Bekah Vasseau finished fifth with a 50 and Abby Price took eighth with a 53.

The other counting score was a 57 by Ella Price. Madison Price (60) and Emily Zink (64) shot non-counting scores.

DCG’s top three golfers carded a score of 47 or lower. Kaylin Petrak was the runner-up medalist with a 41.
