NCMP boys fall to Roosevelt

Jaden Dydell won twice and Elijah Eekhoff claimed another win but the NCMP boys swim team fell to Des Moines Roosevelt on Tuesday night at the Newton YMCA.

Dydell was victorious in the 100-meter breaststroke and 50 freestyle and Eekhoff was the winner in the 100 butterfly. The Cardinals also took second in all three relays and Henry Jensen was the runner-up in two freestyle events. Des Moines Roosevelt won the meet 115-55.

Dydell’s time in the 50 freestyle was clocked at 21.95 seconds, which ranks seventh in the state. He won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.65 seconds, which now sits in the top five in the state.

Eekhoff’s winning time in the 100 butterfly was clocked at 1:00.87. Jensen was second in the 200 and 400 freestyle.

The Cardinals’ second-place 200 medley relay team included Jackson Mace-Maynard, Dydell, Eekhoff and Jordan Henderson.

Henderson started the 200 freestyle relay and the rest of the team included Clay Lamb, Eekhoff and Jensen. The 400 freestyle relay team was made up of Henderson, Jensen, Eekhoff and Dydell.

Head coach Steve Jones said the Cardinals set 13 season-best times in the meet.
